About Us

Carnegie Weight Management (CWM) are the leading experts in tackling childhood obesity.

We provide the longest running children’s weight management programme in Europe.

And

We have more scientific evidence to demonstrate the success of our programmes than any other programme worldwide.

Who We Are

About Us Based at Leeds Metropolitan University, Carnegie Weight Management was founded in 1999 by our director, Professor Paul Gately, who has 20 years experience in the research and running of successful young people’s weight loss programmes.

We are the UK’s only academic (non-profit) institution providing childhood weight management services, training and research.

Today it is 10 years since we began running our first programme.

We have gone from strength to strength. We have helped over 5,000 young people to not only lose weight, but to keep it off and to really improve their fitness and confidence levels too.

Flexible Services

About UsWe understand that all children are different and need different levels of support depending on their starting point. Our unique multidisciplinary programmes for children and families help every stage of the weight loss journey.

Our focus is on re-education and support for young people and families, in a friendly, fun and nurturing environment. Using cognitive behavioural therapy tools we seek to empower and encourage behaviour change, not offer a “one solution fits all” approach.
