Parents

It is the ultimate goal of any parent to see their child happy and enjoying life.  However, all too often, when a child is overweight this is not the case.

If you are concerned about your child’s weight, don’t blame yourself.  What is important is that you want to help them and that you take action now.

Fad diets don’t work, but re-education and long-term lifestyle changes do.  What’s more, everyone in the family can benefit!

Read on to find out how we can help you.

About Childhood Obesity

You are not alone. Childhood obesity is a serious problem in our society today. 1 in 3 children in the UK are now classed as overweight, with 1 in 5 of these being classed as obese.

Being overweight or obese puts young people at an increased risk of developing serious health conditions, both now and in the future, including type II diabetes, cancer and heart disease.  It can also have a huge effect on a child’s happiness and self-esteem.  Many overweight young people are teased or bullied and find it hard to take part in physical activities with their peers.

Yet with the right help and support this can change.

The Carnegie Weight Management Approach

Our approach is all about achieving long term, sustainable weight loss, within a fun, supportive and nurturing environment.  Cognitive Behavioural Tools are used to achieve long term behaviour change.

Many of the young people who attend out programmes say that “they are all in same boat” and the strong social element to our programme helps build confidence, friendships and inclusion within a non-competitive environment.

You can be sure your child is in safe hands.

Professor Paul Gately

Our programme is founded and led by Professor Paul Gately, who is an expert in the field of childhood obesity.  He has spent twenty years researching and running successful weight loss programmes, having seen at first hand how the commercial, boot camp approach in the USA doesn’t work

He is also a regular consultant to government and health organisations around the world and makes regular appearances on television, including GMTV, Too Fat to Toddle (ITV), and Tubby Toddlers (BBC).

Don't Just Take Our Word For It!

Camp has been really motivating for the whole family. We have all lost inches and pounds and it has brought us closer together.

Without camp, Jacob wouldn’t have had the confidence to start playing rugby and would never have been accepted at an award winning rugby academy.

Katie has come on leaps and bounds. She has gone from being withdrawn to a happy confident young lady – it has made all the difference to our family.
