Professionals

There is no single solution to obesity and one approach doesn’t fit all. That is why at Carnegie Weight Management our philosophy in tackling childhood obesity is to provide interventions for the entire obesity care pathway offering a tiered approach based on different needs from overweight to severely obese children aged 7-17 years.

As an recognised service and training provider by the Department of Health under the Framework Agreement for Child Weight Management, we offer high quality, evidenced based, multi-disciplinary weight management services. Our flexible approach enables programmes to be tailored to local need and our accredited training course enables programmes to be delivered and sustained in your locality.

The Carnegie Weight Management Approach
  • Behaviour Change – Our approach combines Cognitive Behaviour Therapy tools with practical life-lessons.  We focus on empowering young people and eliciting behaviour change through re-education and support, in a nurturing environment.
  • Clinically Safe & Effective – Based on extensive scientific research, we have more clinical evidence to support the success of our programmes than any other provider worldwide. All programmes adhere to NICE guidelines as a minimum standard.
  • Sustainable - We don’t prescribe a quick fix or diet. Children on our programmes have been consistently shown to maintain and continue to lose weight in the long term.
  • Flexible – We recognise local needs and can design different solutions based on local needs.
  • Fun –We focus on learning through practical experience and create an atmosphere in which young people feel accepted, relaxed and genuinely want to make changes to their lives.
  • Family – All of our programmes have a core family involvement and support a whole family approach.
How We Would Work With You

At Carnegie Weight Management, our approach is to work out your needs first and then design a solution based on these needs, rather than providing a solution in a box. All of these programmes can be delivered direct by CWM or in conjunction with a local provider.

We would work with you in the programme design and set-up, then train local staff to deliver the actual programme content.  All staff would first undertake our extensive training programme, working towards a Vocational Certificate in Weight Management which is an accredited course by Leeds Metropolitan University.

We would then continue to provide you with ongoing support, ensuring consistent quality, sustainability and effective evaluation of outcomes.
