Activity Leader Job Description

Responsible To: Supervisor
Responsible For: Responsible for the safe and effective delivery of the activity programme at all times.
Purpose Of Job: To run high quality activity sessions in line with the club curriculum and to assist in the organisation and delivery of all activities on a club leading to the provision of a safe play and educationally stimulating environment for all children and parents.

The post is subject to a full CRB disclosure.

Essential Personal Attributes For The Post

  1. Experience of leading sessions of physical activity and / or weight management
  2. Experience of dealing with people with sensitive medical problems
  3. NVQ Level 3 Physical Activity Leader / Instructor award
  4. Excellent communication skills and the ability to prepare materials that are appropriate to the target audience
  5. Excellent interpersonal skills in order to forge trusting relationships with the children and their families.
  6. Must have a caring and empathetic nature
  7. Excellent organisational skills
Responsibilities

1. The safe and effective delivery of all activity sessions during the programme

  1. Ensure punctuality of the programme.
  2. Ensure developmentally appropriate provision of activity sessions.
  3. Setting up and checking the safety of equipment.
  4. Sessions should be planned to be effectively delivered, in a progressive manner, they should consider the needs of the individuals in the group.
  5. Ensuring an inclusive, fun and enjoyable experience for all individuals.
  6. Ensure a variety of experiences for the children and parents, utilising a range of skills, activities, and approaches to the delivery of the sessions.
  7. Recording of accidents and incidents in an appropriate process
  8. Embrace, reflect and act on feedback from your peers, on your planning and delivery to ensure you are undertaking your role effectively.

     

2. Ensure all club members and staff are appropriately cared for during their Carnegie Clubs experience.

  1. Ensure adherence to the club code of conduct to ensure a positive experience for all individuals involved.
  2. Adhere to the child protection procedures.
  3. Be constantly aware of the number of children in the group
  4. Work under own initiative

3. Effective and appropriate management of poor behaviour in children.

4. Provide everyone with positive experience of physical activity, exercise and sport.

5. Ensure children are not left unsupervised at any time.

6. Take responsibility for equipment used; maintain order in the stock room, count stock in and out during every session, report damage/breakage/loss to the Supervisor

Other Details
Relationships: The post holder will be responsible to the Supervisor and hold responsibility to other team members.
Health and safety: To maintain a positive attitude to health and safety in carrying out the duties of the post with special emphasis on the environment and safety of the individuals in your care.

There is a no smoking and drinking of alcohol policy in force for the duration of the club.
