Camp Director Job Specification

Responsible To: Programme Coordinator
Responsible For: The safe and effective set up and delivery of the camp programme.
Purpose Of Job: To ensure the smooth and effective running of the camp programme. Considering all operational aspects of the programme.
Responsibilities

1. The overall operational activities of the camp programme including:

  1. Management of the programme timetable.
  2. Support, guide and ensure appropriate communication with head of boys and girls.
  3. All health and safety on camp (including fire and accident and emergency procedures).
  4. Activities associated with visitors.
  5. Liaison with designated Site manager.
  6. Managing camp finances

2. Work with/directs (assistant head of programming, lifestyles coordinator and office staff) to ensure effective operational delivery of all camp activities.

3. Ensure the effective administration of the camp programme, including the maintenance of all records, and adherence to all practices, procedures, monitoring and reporting.

  1. Effective office and information management
  2. Ensure the availability of accurate information on campers on camp (for health and safety purposes).
  3. Ensure all campers are picked up and delivered during arrivals and departures on camp (This is an issue of upmost importance)
  4. Ensure all medication is safely held and dispensed appropriately by the Group Leader.
  5. Ensure appropriate completion of the accident and incident reporting procedures

4. In partnership with the HoB/G ensure effective communication with:

  1. Local site staff to ensure effective delivery of the programme.
  2. Camp staff using a daily management meeting, daily group leaders meeting and a weekly camp staff meeting.
  3. CWM central team providing daily number updates, as well as any other information required.

5. Manage and control expenditure within agreed budgets

  1. Management and reporting of staff costs
  2. Management and reporting of petty cash
  3. Management and reporting of all other expenditure on the camp.
  4. Management and reporting of camper cash

6. Work with and support staff to:

  1. Ensure campers are not left unsupervised at any time.
  2. Ensure adherence to camp code of conduct.
  3. Ensure appropriate staff coverage of all camp activities.
  4. Support HoB/G to ensure safe and effective practice.
  5. Ensure adherence to the health and safety procedures on camp.
  6. To ensure best practice use of all equipment by campers and staff.

7. Ensure all child protection issues are dealt with according to the guidelines within the staff handbook or from the CWM central team. Ensure confidentiality of these issues.

8. Liaison with CWM marketing and PR and the media

Other Details

Relationships: The post holder will be responsible to the Camp co-ordinator.
Health and safety: To maintain a positive attitude to health and safety in carrying out the duties of the post with special emphasis on the environment and safety of the campers in your care.

There is a no smoking and drinking of alcohol policy in force for the duration of the club.
