Lifestyle Leader Job Description

Responsible To: Group Leader
Responsible For: Responsible for the safe and effective delivery of the lifestyle activities at all times.
Purpose Of Job: To run lifestyles sessions in line with the camp curriculum and to assist in the organisation and delivery of all group activities leading to the provision of a safe play and educationally stimulating environment for all campers.
Responsibilities

1. The safe and effective delivery of all lifestyle sessions during the programme

  1. Ensure punctuality of the programme.
  2. This will involve developmentally appropriate provision of lifestyle sessions.
  3. Being responsive to the needs of campers where appropriate.
  4. Setting up and checking the safety of equipment.
  5. Sessions should be planned to be effectively delivered, in a progressive manner, they should consider the needs of the campers in the group.
  6. Ensuring an inclusive, fun and enjoyable experience for all campers and fellow staff.
  7. Ensure a variety of experiences for the campers, utilising a range of skills, activities, and approaches to the delivery of the sessions.
  8. Recording accidents and incidents in appropriate process.
  9. Embrace and act on feedback from your peers, Group Leaders, Head of boys/girls and camp directors to ensure you are undertaking your role effectively.

2. Ensure all campers and staff are appropriately cared for during their summer camp experience.

  1. Ensure adherence to the camp code of conduct to ensure a positive experience for all campers. With a particular focus to ensure campers and peers recognise that bullying is an unacceptable behaviour.
  2. Homesickness – All campers are supported to overcome an important early challenge of living away from home.
  3. Adhere to the camp child protection procedures.
  4. Staff wellbeing is considered by all, be observant to the challenges your peers face including: stress, tiredness and taking appropriate breaks.
  5. Be constantly aware of the number of children in the group.

3. Effective and appropriate management of poor behaviour in campers.

4. Provide campers with positive experience of the lifestyle programme.

5. Ensure campers are not left unsupervised at any time.

Relationships: The post holder will be responsible to the Group Leader
Health and safety: To maintain a positive attitude to health and safety in carrying out the duties of the post with special emphasis on the environment and safety of the campers in your care.

There is a no smoking and drinking of alcohol policy in force for the duration of the club.
