Volunteer Coordinator Job Specification

Responsible To: Camp Director
Responsible For: Responsible for the effective delivery of all group activities and pastoral care for staff and campers.
Purpose Of Job: To guide respective group staff to ensure best practice delivery of all elements of the camp programme including pastoral care and delivery of physical activity, healthy eating, lifestyle and social sessions within the camp curriculum. Where necessary to assist in the delivery of the sessions and organisation of your group leading to the provision of a fun, safe, play and educationally stimulating environment for all campers.
Responsibilities

1. Guiding and supporting activity and lifestyle leaders to safely and effectively deliver all activities during the programme.

2. Ensure that all activities (lifestyle, social and activity) are.

  1. Developmentally appropriate.
  2. Planned, punctual and effectively delivered, in a progressive manner, they should also consider the needs of the campers in the group.
  3. Inclusive, fun and enjoyable experience for all campers and fellow staff.
  4. Varied for the campers, utilising a range of skills, activities, and approaches to the delivery of the sessions.
  5. Providing campers with opportunities to be engaged in the sessions, support physical activity leaders and lifestyle leaders to develop their skills to deliver the sessions effectively and inclusively.
  6. Designed to support campers so they feel empowered to undertake activity themselves following the camp.

3. Ensure all campers and staff are appropriately cared for during their summer camp experience.

  1. Ensure adherence to the camp code of conduct to ensure a positive experience for all campers. With a particular focus to ensure campers and staff recognise that bullying is an unacceptable behaviour.
  2. Homesickness – All campers are supported to overcome an important early challenge of living away from home.
  3. Child protection – all staff adhere to the camp child protection procedures.
  4. Staff wellbeing is considered by all, however group leaders must ensure they recognise challenges such as: stress, tiredness, taking appropriate breaks within all of their team members.

4. Supporting Activity and Lifestyle leaders to ensure all campers adhere to the code of conduct. It is ultimately the responsibility of group leaders to ensure appropriate management of behavioural conduct of campers.

5. Following dialogue with the respective head of boys or girls to liaise with parents and communicate positive and negative feedback when necessary.

6. Ensure head of boys/head of girls are completely informed about your activities.

7. Ensure campers are not left unsupervised at any time.

Other Details

Relationships: The post holder will be responsible to their respective head (boys or Girls) and hold responsibility to other team members.
Health and safety: To maintain a positive attitude to health and safety in carrying out the duties of the post with special emphasis on the environment and safety of the campers in your care.

There is a no smoking and drinking of alcohol policy in force for the duration of the club.
