Lauren Humphrey cwm-lauren.jpg

PhD Researcher

Lauren is a PhD student working within Carnegie Weight Management. Lauren joined the team prior to the start of 2004 Carnegie International Weight Loss Camp and researches, devises and oversees the dietary requirements of the children on camp. She completed a BSc in Sports and Exercise Science at Leeds Metropolitan University and went on to gain an MSc distinction in Exercise Physiology at Loughborough University. Her MSc thesis assessed the metabolic responses of differing glycaemic index meals. Lauren’s doctoral research assesses the diet on camp and how this impacts appetite and mood sensations. This involves continuous contact with the children during the camp programme and ongoing support for both the children and their families in the home environment. These findings allow Lauren to contribute to the evolving research of Carnegie Weight Management and help shape dietary interventions for the future. Since 2004, she has held a part time lectureship post at Leeds Met reflecting her research interests in nutrition, obesity management, exercise physiology and health related fitness.

Claire is also heavily involved in the delivery and supervision of the community programmes delivered around the country working with children and families.
