Are all the campers overweight?
As Carnegie International Camp is a specialised summer programme for overweight children, only those who are overweight are eligible to attend.
What kind of food will I be eating?
Three nutritious meals are served everyday, as well as an afternoon and evening snack. We prepare a variety of healthy foods and make sure they are in the correct portion sizes for you; for example, fruit, bacon, bagels, stir-fries, pizza, salad, cottage pie, roast dinner, ice cream, angel delight, sponge cake. Your diet will be based on your own individual needs to make sure you receive the right nutrition and energy to take part in all activities while losing weight safely.
What are the bedrooms like?
Each camper has their own space in well-equipped bedrooms with a bed, mirror, drawers and cupboard with hanging space. Rooms are shared with one to three other campers and each floor has bathroom and toilet facilities. Boys and girls will stay in separate boarding houses and your bedtime will be dependant on your age.
What sort of activities will we do?
There are all kinds of activities on offer at Carnegie International Camp! Games range from the traditional - basketball, tennis, rugby, badminton, netball, squash, swimming, football – to more unusual sports – boxercise, treasure hunts, circuits, capture the flag and many more. Lifestyle sessions involve daily challenges, goal settings, discussions and education on nutrition and lifestyle changes. Campers also take part in clubs such as photography, cooking and arts & crafts. In the evenings, camp entertainment typically offers quizzes, videos, discos and talent nights. There are also fun day trips to a theme park, the beach, shopping, bowling, quasar, ice-skating and even camping. Camp life is always busy!
Will I lose weight?

Will I be allowed to see my family?
Yes, there is a weekend during the summer where your family are invited to visit you at camp so they can see how you’re getting on and how the camp works. You can also ring home or your friends twice a week.
Will I be allowed to go off site with my family?
If your parents/guardians are there to sign you out of and back into camp then of course.
What happens after camp?
We keep in touch with you with monthly bulletins and regular telephone calls. We are also keen for you to call or email at any time after camp if you need any advice and support. You will also be invited to attend reunions that we hold throughout the year.
What kind of stuff can I bring with me to camp?
A full kit list will be sent to you in the info pack after registration including advice on sports clothing. You are allowed to bring your stereo and CDs, musical instruments, bike/skateboard/rollerblades (with protective gear) and fancy dress clothes which may come in useful during camp.
