About Carnegie Clubs

Carnegie Clubs are a 12 week intervention, with a 12 week follow on for young people and a family member. Designed to support public services provision, this flexible programme can be held after school or at weekends for 3.5 hours per week.

Who is it for?

Our Carnegie Clubs are designed for 8 to 17 years who are overweight to attend with a family member. Check your BMI to see if you fall into the overweight category! (LINK TO BMI CALCULATOR).

Carnegie Clubs are the perfect ongoing support to put the fun back into healthy living!

Is it like a boot camp?

No!

  • We don’t take a "no pain to gain" attitude, we have a fun focused approach.
  • If you are not having fun we are not doing our jobs!
  • We don’t believe in diets! We have a practical and realistic approach which promotes a balance and moderation of everyday foods.
  • We believe in making small changes to everyday lifestyles to keep weight off!

What will I do?

The aim of clubs is to put the fun back into exercise so everyone will take part in physical activity from dodge ball to kick boxing. Club members learn about food choices through the lifestyle sessions, and share experiences and challenges with like minded people!

Does is work?

Yes it does! Our curriculum is based on our scientifically proven residential weight loss programme we encourage success in the following areas:

  • Safe weight loss
  • Decreased body fat
  • Increased fitness
  • Improved self-esteem

When and where are the camps?

We have delivered Carnegie Clubs in Leeds, Walsall, Isle of Mann and Newark and will soon be announcing more in September so keep your eyes peeled for a club near you or fill out the contact form to register your interest.

How much do they cost?

Carnegie Clubs are usually run in association with children’s services or public health organisations who fund the programme so it is free for local people to access!
