Taking place over the school summer holidays, Monday to Friday 9am-4pm or 8am-6pm, Carnegie Day Camps are designed for young people who want to get more active and lead a healthier lifestyle!
When and where are the day camps?
The Day camp programme will be held in Leeds and will run Monday to Friday during the summer holidays and the first begins 14th July until 29th August.
The typical programme is from 9am until 4pm but we appreciate that many people work and may struggle with the timings so we offer an extended programme from 8am until 6pm at an additional cost to accommodate travel arrangement.
How much do they cost?
Prices starts at £195 for a minimum of one a week attendance to the £1,365 for the maximum of a seven week attendance. We are currently offering a friend incentive.
The typical day camp programme runs Monday to Friday from 9am until 4pm. For an extra £75 per week we offer an extended service from 8am until 6pm.
Who is it for?
Our day camp programmes are designed for 8 to 17 years olds who are overweight. Check your BMI to see if you fall into the overweight category.
At a third of the price than our residential camp, day camps are an ideal alternative for people who cannot afford our residential programme or who may want to stay at home for the summer. Is it a boot camp?
No!
- We don’t take a “no pain to gain” attitude, we have a fun focused approach.
- If you are not having fun we are not doing our jobs!
- We don’t believe in diets! We have a practical and realistic approach which promotes a balance and moderation of everyday foods.

What will I do?
The day camp programme is crammed full of lots of different types of physical activity from dodge ball to kick boxing. You will learn all about food choices through the lifestyle sessions. Day campers also get to go on day trips and take part in an elective of their choice whether it be in photography or orienteering!

Whilst the dietary guidance and physical activity help campers lose weight, the lifestyle sessions are the key to keeping the weight off so that day campers can make better choices about what food they eat. Our approach promotes good planning, continual monitoring and family involvement and our scientifically proven results are not rivalled worldwide so we know our campers can be successful!
What will I do?
Day Campers will have an action packed summer that they will never forget! The core day camp curriculum covers the four main components that are key to having fun and being healthy:

We are not a fat camp
We promote all the kinds food that you would find at home but teach day campers how much and what kind of food they should eat – we do not believe in diets! To achieve the best results, day campers are encouraged to follow a meal plan designed by a qualified dietician at home and bring in a packed lunch everyday in accordance with this guidance.
What kind of physical activity will I do?
The physical activity is all in the form of fun based games! Remember, everyone is in the same situation, so you can enjoy yourself in a supportive environment where the main aim is to have the most fun and to try your best – there are no USA Boot Camps here!
You will get the chance to take part in lots of activities you may never have tried before from dodge ball, kick boxing to the camp’s own games such as colour wars and capture the flag! By the end of the programme, you will be fitter and you will have got better at core skills needed in sports at schools.
What are lifestyle sessions?
Lifestyle sessions are the key to keep the weight off after camp. The aim is to promote understanding how food and activity influences weight and health. Everyone sets and monitors their own individual goals.
Learning how to make little lifestyle changes are key to long term success. Whilst they are on the programme, day campers are encouraged to put these small changes to their own daily routines into practice at home to get the best results!
What is the social activity?
The day camp programme gives everyone the chance to meet new people from the same area and have fun in a safe and supportive environment where everyone is in the same boat! There are many social activities laid on from weekly excursions to treasure hunts.

Our staff are coo! A ratio of one member of staff to every five day campers guarantees that everyone has the individual attention needed to gain maximum benefit from the programme.

Will my family be involved at all?
